Horrorfest '07

I am not a big fan of horror movies, but when a brunette fatale with perfect eyebrows is sporting red latex and is smiling over an operating table, what's not to like?

Check out Horrorfest '07 (November 9-18) if you're into this kind of thing.

Happy Halloween, Eyebrow Lovers

Singer Nelly Furtado

Canadia's export Nelly Furtado is the daughter of Portuguese (Azorean, actually) immigrants. That explains the solid Iberian brows.

Scroll down pointless trivia: Furtado's illegit daughter Nevis is technically "half-Portuguese," but I don't know which half.

200th Eyebrow Blog Post: Ines Sastre

Our first posting back in March and our 150th (in August) celebrated Spanish actress and model Ines Sastre's beautiful eyebrows.

This posting, our 200th does the same:

This Girl Is Smoking!

I understand there's a whole subculture of perverts who think there's something sexually arousing about a nude woman smoking.

People sure have some weird turn-ons.

By the way, doesn't she have nice eyebrows?

Scroll down mad propz: A tip of the tweezers to subscriber Nastya for sharing this find.

Veils for Peace! Insh'Allah!

In the past, I posted about niqabs and hijabs. But I know that my North American counterparts just call them "veils" most of the time.

I don't care what the hell you call them. Just look on these brows and enjoy.

This is great stuff.

20,000 Visitors and Rising: Jennifer Connelly Marks the Occasion

Back on August 29, I reported that in the previous month, 6,200+ visitors had surfed through my private eyebrow fantasy world (otherwise known as this blog). And I posted some Jennifer Connelly eyebrows as a reward to the faithful.

Since then, another 15,000 visitors have blown through here, an even higher rate. Most of them, I'm sure, thought "Whoa. Get me outta here." But maybe a few liked what they saw and keep coming back.

Regardless of whether you landed here by mistake or came here just to look at great eyebrows, welcome. And thanks. (Tell your friends.)

If you have comments or requests, you can leave a comment on the site, or send a message.

Argent-Teens: We'll Settle for Two Out of Three

The Argen-teens web site (never attempt anything without the hyphen!) begins with a good concept: stockpile photos and videos of nude young brunettes from a country noted for the beauty of its women, and for the quality of their eyebrows.

The homepage says:
Enter the amazing world of glamour, fantasies and good taste created by the very models who truly understand Erotism.
They kind of have the glamour and fantasies part down. We're not sure about the good taste part. Hence the two out of three (although I guess it also depends on what they really mean by "good taste").

Anyway, just look at the girls.

What? You've never been to Argentina? Then here's an extra dose to hold you over til you can get there. Her name is Muriel:

Queen Rania Hits California

The news from California recently has been all about wildfire. Here's another meme that's hot: Middle Eastern messengers of reason, sporting a taste for cross-cultural dialog and finely-tuned eyebrows.

I speak, of course, of none other than Her Serene Highness Rania Al Abdullah, Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. And I've spoken of her before.

But this week she was in California and we noticed that the brows are still being well-maintained.

And at a local high school (above), the Queen was seated in between two young ladies who model their own eyebrows on those of Her Royal Highness.

Mona Lisa's Eyebrows

Who the hell ever heard of an Italian brunette with no eyebrows? There's no such thing. Which is why Leonardo's Mona Lisa looks so damn weird.

But now, perhaps, there is an explanation. Engineer/inventor Pascal Cotte has analyzed the painting using 13 color filters from ultraviolet to infrared wavelengths, and has created a 22 gigabyte image that shows what is hidden under 500 years' worth of dirt and discoloration.

Here's the big news though:
The world's most famous painting originally included both brows and lashes, according to Parisian engineer Pascal Cotte, who says his 240-megapixel scans of the painting reveal traces of Mona Lisa's left brow, obliterated by long-ago restoration efforts.

"And if you look closely at the eye of 'Mona Lisa' you can clearly see that the cracks around the eye have slightly disappeared, and that may be explained that one day a curator or restorer cleaned the eye, and...probably removed the eyelashes and eyebrow," he said.
Whew. We thought she had alopecia or something.

We are impressed with Cotte's dedication, even as some scholars question his findings. But instead of all that fancy lighting and camera equipment, couldn't he just have used MRI (Magnetic Renaissance Imaging)?

I Want Sandy

OK, I don't really want Sandy. I want Sandrine. Sandrine Holt.

But there's a new service online called I Want Sandy, which claims to be a "personal email assistant." I glanced at it and it didn't seem to integrate with third-party software, so
I assume services like Twine, Ikordo, or even IMified are perhaps more useful.

But do they have a cute '60s-style cartoon secretary (complete with eyebrows) as their logo? No!

So here's Sandy:

Jadi, Brunette Waif

Back in March, and again in June, we posted photos from the Fem-Joy web site. The site says the girls are "authentic, joyful, natural and super pretty." OK, we'll go along with that.

Here's Jadi.

And if you simply have to see all of her - not just the eyebrows - check this out.

Joe Bowler: Final Installment

We've spent a good, long time posting illustrations by artist Joe Bowler - a man who knew how to anchor a pretty face with a strong but feminine eyebrow.

Here's the last of the Bowler collection of extraordinary brows.

And you can always relive the glory of Bowler artwork we've already shared by clicking on the Joe Bowler tag in the sidebar.

Vintage Sophia Loren

Back in August we visited with Sophia Loren. It's time for another vintage flyby of this Italian beauty.

Scroll-down compromise bonus: What's the compromise? Well her brows are over-plucked, but the rest of her makes up for it. Click for the rest:

Shannyn Sossamonagain

Back in May I wrote about Shannyn Sossamon. Fortunately there's not much to say about her, but she's in a new movie, One Missed Call. Here's the plot: your cell phone rings and then you die.

If that were true, I'd be dialing all day.

As usual, though, it just doesn't matter. Here's all you need to know: you bring the popcorn, she brings the brows. It's a date!

Those are high-res video grabs above, from the trailer. This next one's not from the film, but it seemed worth including:

Natalie Wood

When I was writing about Deborah Kerr yesterday I remembered Natalie Wood! She had some righteous eyebrows, and a unique appeal.

The black and white photo below is my favorite of her.

Deal me in bonus:
Around 1959, Maple Leaf Gum made playing cards of a number of stars. Here is Natalie's.

The King and Eye

Actress Deborah Kerr has passed away.

Our parents remember her rolling around in the surf with Burt Lancaster.

Our childhood babysitters remember her bounding about in the arms of Yul Brynner in a hoop skirt on a shiny ballroom floor in a Siamese palace. (Incidentally, her songs in The King and I were dubbed by Marni Nixon, who made a career of recording over the mediocre singing voices of Kerr, Natalie Wood (West Side Story) and Audrey Hepburn (My Fair Lady)).

However you remember her, or even if you're too young (or clueless) to have heard of her, take a moment and enjoy her stylish look and presence.

Scroll-down popcorn-popping bonus: Here's the trailer for The King and I. Turn up the sound, kids (and don't miss the Fox Movietone Fanfare at the end)!

Art Frahm Homage by Marcus Ranum

Back in July I wrote about Art Frahm, who channeled the male's objectifying and dominantly privileged gaze while painting women whose underwear was falling down.

Photographer Marcus Ranum also appreciates Frahm's unique approach to the celery-buyer's dilemma. On his photo site he has ten studio shots with models posed in circumstances that just ooze with Artfrahmenfrauleinischkeit. The point is, he gets it - especially the celery part.

Here's a cropped version of the best pair of brows among the ten, but there are other things to see there as well, so click on through and check it out.

Scroll-down Intellectual Property Quibble Bonus:

Here's a section cropped from another one of the photos:

Let's play "What's wrong with this picture?" That's right, kids. How did Nori's panties fall down if she had the holster thigh tie-downs attached?

Unlike you (the Reader), I (the Blogger) have literally unlimited amounts of free time, so I researched this. It is clear that if the gunslinger in this photo used something like the Holster Support Plate described in detail in US Patent Office filing 6588640, she and photographer Ranum could avoid this kind of visual paradox and get back to showing us high-resolution photos of Nori scissoring herself out of a black Zentai, which is what we really want, after all.

Isn't it?

That and more photos of Gorean Slave Girls. Although, even with all my free time, I looked and looked at those slave girl photos and cannot find any trace of a Kef.

And while I'm on a roll, the horse photo would be funnier if the horse were wearing giant panties around its fetlocks.

OK. It's a long, long way from Art Frahm to fetlocks. I better stop now.

Don't Tweeze Me, Bro!

This image comes from Los Angeles photographer Gregory Prescott.

There's not much else in his portfolio that says "Eyebrows" the way this image does, but this one earns him honorable mention here. We encourage him to keep taking great photos (and maybe cut down on the poetry a little...)

Jay Parkinson Photography. Maybe.

Jay Parkinson may be a photographer in Baltimore, Maryland who has an eye for color and shape. And eyebrows, I guess. Which is good.

On the other hand, he may be a physician in Brooklyn, New York. One of these sites is not up to date. That's the same guy, right?

It doesn't matter. Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Parkinson. Whatever.

Here's the first of a couple of installments showcasing his photographic talents, and his talents' talents.

Holt on to Your Hats

People seem to just love Sandrine Holt of Resident Evil fame. And why not? She accounts for a ton of clicks through to this blog. And since some wack job stalker type Holt fan boy posted an "I love you" video to YouTube, we thought we'd send it along to you.

Scroll down for that. Meanwhile, here are some wallet size photos. And don't forget, we blogged her in April.

Sa' Elayssa, Bellydancer

How does that early '70s song go?
Blue jean baby....L.A. lady.... hold me closer belly dancer....
Maybe that's not it. You're too young anyway. The point is, this tiny dancer is an L.A. lady (or was, the last time her web site was updated 20 months ago). Her name is Sa' Elayssa, and she's a self-described "Russian Gypsy." In my house that's code for "crazy" but it doesn't matter.

Just check out the righteous brows.
